ARLA Information
KC Property Rentals Ltd.
THE ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENTIAL LETTING AGENTS
BACKGROUND
ARLA was formed in 1981 as the professional and regulatory body for letting agents in the UK. As the lettings market is so specialised those working in this field realised the need for a body which would promote standards in this growing sector of the property market.
STANDARDS
The association currently have 1200 member offices ranging from one branch members to multi branch companies. Before been admitted to ARLA the applicants must demonstrate their thorough knowledge of the profession and that their business practices are to the required standards set out by the association. These standards are far higher than the law demands.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
ARLA organise a series of meetings, training courses and seminars throughout the year. This is done locally and nationally and allows members to be updated on the major issue affecting the industry.
Examinations are held regularly and the association requires at least one qualified member of staff in each of their offices.
INDEMNITY
All members require to carry their own professional indemnity cover but in addition to this they are also covered by a bonding scheme which provides financial protection for clients monies which have been misappropriated.
COMPLAINTS AND DISCIPLINE
Tenants and landlords can report any unresolved disputes they are having with ARLA members to the association. They have complaints and disciplinary procedures and where appropriate will impose suitable sanctions on the member.
INFLUENCE
ARLA is recognised by many institutions such as governments, councils and the media as the foremost body representing the rented sector and as such they are consulted on many aspects of the industry.
K C Property Rentals Ltd became members of ARLA in 1999. Since that time both our landlords and tenants have benefited greatly from membership. Our staff are better trained and able to provide a more informed and professional service to all our clients.
